Fundamentals Of Fishing In A Custom Ice Fishing House

By Sally Delacruz

Not many people are really fond of the winter season. If given a chance to choose between frolicking in snow outside as compared to being inside the house in front of the fireplace, many will pick the latter. After all, it is no fun to slip on ice, catch cold during snowball fights, and have wet socks when the snow finally melts.

Actually, this season can also bring loads of fun, if only one braves the cold and goes outside. There are many winter activities that you can enjoy. You can go skating and swoosh down icy mountain slopes. You can also engage in snowshoeing, and walk outdoors with family and friends. You can also try fishing in frozen lakes under the shelter of a custom ice fishing house.

Ice fishing is done on ice, of course. For those who have not tried it yet, here are the basics. First, you have to carve a hole on the frozen surface of an icy lake. Then, you will have to snag some trout and other marine life by placing a bait at the end of a line. Basically you will have to wait until you catch something worth eating for supper.

This activity gives you the perfect opportunity for socialization. Being warm blooded creatures, humans have this instinct to acquire body heat, why is why people sit closely together during this recreational hobby. While waiting for the fish who will eat the bait that you have prepared, you can also talk with your fellow fishers about anything at all.

This winter recreation is also cheaper than other types. The equipments needed are much simpler, too. Aside from having fun out in the cold, you will be able to cook something tasty for dinner after the said activity.

What is more, this is an activity that people can enjoy whether you are doing it alone or in a group. You can bring along friends and family members who are comfortable with the cold. After a really good day out with special people, you can cook what you have caught and prepare it for a special dinner.

It can also be fun when done with a relatively large group composed of family and friends. Just make sure that everyone is comfortable in the course if the said activity. Encourage everyone to wear layered clothing and to dress accordingly. Have everyone slip into their winter boots so that they can protect their feet from the slush.

When you are all dressed up nice and warm, the next plan of action is to prepare all the needed gear. This simple activity needs no sophisticated equipment. To dig a hole in the ice, you will need a chisel or an auger. Use the chisel if it is thin, an auger for when it is thick. To catch yourself some trouts, you will need a jigging rod, which is an ordinary rod. If you do not want to hold a rod all the time, you can opt to use a tip up.

Most people now use fishing houses. They are made to protect fishers from the harsh elements outside. These are built just like a house, only they have holes oh the floor where the line goes into. With use of these movable shelters, you can have a warmer experience. They are for sale at most sports shops and some can even be rented out if you do not have enough to purchase one.
