The Quest Of Understanding How To Learn To Play Golf

By Patty Goff

Golf is a wonderful game that is popular and loved by both the young and the old. Golf is a great way to spend time outdoors having a great time in a tranquil setting. However, there are some that love the game, but simply don't know how to play it! How to learn to play golf has become a question for the lover of golf that wants to truly become a part of the sport.

When learning about golf, it is so important to first learn the basics. Part of that is learning the object of the game. It is simply learning how to guide a ball with a clubbed instrument and hoping that it gets into each hole on a golf course, but in the correct order! Normally, there are either 9 or 18 holes that are played. The winner of the game is determined by tallying up the results after the last player puts the last ball into the last hole.

Score keeping is an important part of learning the game. The player with the lowest score instead of the highest; wins. Every time a player swings and hits the ball earns them a point. The person who takes the fewest swings while landing the ball into the hole has a pretty good chance of winning.

Knowing certain terms such as "par, " is also key. Each hole has a number of points assigned to it known as par. Being "on par" means that the player has reached a certain point value. Other key terms to know are birdies, bogey, and hole in one.

Identifying the parts of the course is a must. Every course has five basic parts, of which one of them is the tee box. The fairway can be located between the tee box and the green. Other parts known as the rough, the putting green, and the hazard describe locations on the course as well as places that make it difficult for a ball to get out once it's trapped.

New players are encouraged to learn the difference in club usage. Clubs types fall into the category of putter, iron, and wood. Certain physical properties and advantages are often associated with the club chosen.

Standing properly often takes practice. There is power in knowing how to stand and where to stand. How a player swings can determine how far the ball will soar. The game begins when every player hits the ball out of the tee box. It is hoped that it lands on the fairway or green. Every player gets a chance to get their balls in the hole by following the starting order.

Even though golfing is a popular sport, it can also be considered to be dangerous. Balls are known to fly and cause a potential hazard for its players. It is recommended that players stand away from the fairway when others are taking swings. A golf round can take anywhere from two to six hours.
