When you enroll for a class, expect to learn a few elements related to help during emergencies. They include CPR for adults, infants and babies. Also, health providers are taught basic life support, emergency medical response, AED and administering emergency oxygen. Although there are many other courses offered, the aim of these classes is to help victims stay alive until help arrives.

First aid may involve learning ways to stop bleeding. Instances such as cutting oneself with a sharp instrument or accidents may leave the victim bleeding which can lead to death. It is important to learn to apply pressure and stop bleeding before help arrives. Also, injury victims should not be moved in case they have dislocated or broken a bone as it might worsen the affected area.

Basic first aid cannot be complete without CPR. CPR is a truly life saver because it helps patients breathe during difficulties. Every second one is not able to breathe they are at risk. CPR helps victims of drowning or those who have limited or straining breathing as a result of other complications. In the program, students are also taught how to help in the event of a calamity, deliveries among others.

Students also learn how to help burn victims. They learn tips of helping a person on fire and ways to stop the fire and ensure safety before the emergency teams arrive on the scene. Also, individuals involved in accidents suffer head, neck and back injuries that require special care during the first few minutes of the accident. These classes teach how to ensure a patients safety without further complicating their injuries.

Online classes are less expensive and some of them are free of charge. In addition, they are flexible and one can take them at their convenience. There are three types of classes depending on the skill; beginner level, intermediate level and advanced level. The levels differ in the level of safety information taught.

Everyone is welcome in these classes. School going children and adults, corporate teams and emergency responders as well as individuals are encouraged to enrol. There are classes for younger children just as there are for adults. Upon request, classes may be custom tailored to fit the safety needs of a particular workplace or school or workplace team. Lastly, students sit for both theory lectures and practical.

Once completed, the learner is issued with a certificate to show that they have successfully undertaken a safety course and are now equipped to serve others in the community. However, the certificate is valid for about two years after which it must be renewed following a refresher course to ensure ones skills are adept. In conclusion, first aid is important to learn as it saves lives.
