A Summary On The Arctic Michigan Fishing Report

By Essie Osborn

The biggest lakes in terms of geographical area covered and size too are the Great Lakes. This lakes are home to a variety of fish and other aqua life. They are housed by Michigan State and the Ontario part of Southern Canada. This lake in its totality has a huge impact on the Canadians and the Michigan State citizens especially those involved in the fishery industry and obviously the customers. This is the reason that one has to assess the Michigan fishing report.

The best analysis can be done by analyzing the various areas that this activity is done. On the other side Michigan benefits from the harsh winter temperatures that results to winter-kill. This is where fish die due to harsh winter weather. This kill can be seen in shallow ponds, streams and on top of lakes. The thick ice characterized during winter is the main cause of this death.

The winter-kill in and of itself cannot be attributed to the low numbers in the fish population. This is because nature has its own was of maintaining the size and its number in one way or another. Why, during winter the fish population falls due to the kill however during the summer the conditions are good and they rear quite a lot. It takes the tradition approach in summer than in winter. This explains why the south has more fish during summer and the highest winter-kill.

The northwest part can be analyzed as a follows. Most parts have been affected by great ice cover and the channels have been inaccessible and this has hampered fishing in a holistic way. This consequently has affected the whole economy in these areas.

Platte Bay, Portage Lake, Frankfort, Onekama, and Lake Cadillac are some of the areas that suffer from these changes. Conversely, Lake Cadillac, as witnessed by many anglers, can allow catching in winter. Conversely, when temperatures rise the channel cannot be accessible as the ice will be melting pretty fast. This has led anglers to use spoons, spawn, and baits, minute and wax worms. All in the aim of getting a good catch.

Little Bay, Munising, Cedarville and Hassel, and Keweenaw Bay all at northerly fall culprit to the melting of ice in the summer. This affects the methods they use as there is no more winter-kill at this time. Anglers have to go further in the lakes with boats and use different methods like wax worms to fish with.

Bluegills, rainbow, perch, whitefish, gills, crappies, pan fish, and turbot are some of the. The perch is the most common type. This is because of its size and the ease it comes with catching it. Especially during the winter.

Anglers and generally anyone who would want to fish can get a license from as low as thirty US dollars. This has contributed heavily on the increase in the whole activity.
