Golf Practice Mats - A Putting Mat Can Work If A Full Practice Green Is Too Big

By David Haas

If you're anything like most golf fanatics, you've toyed with the idea of having a private practice green or golf mats installed at your home from time to time. However, this just isn't realistic for many golf fans; for a variety of reasons, many people just aren't able to swing the installation of a full practice green at their personal home. Perhaps they live in an urban setting so space is at a premium, perhaps the maintenance and care of a full green is too physically demanding; whatever the reason, golf fans in these circumstances feel like they may not be able to enjoy a golf setup in their own home. However, they may be forgetting that golf mats come in all shapes and sizes, and that almost everyone has the space for at least a simple putting mat.

It's likely they live close to the city or even in it where living space is expensive, or it could be that maintaining the green is a little too much effort for them to commit to at the time. Whatever the circumstances, golfers end up feeling discouraged about ever getting a home putting green for their house. They may be unaware that golf putting mats come in a variety of sizes to accommodate nearly any size or shape space. Being completely portable and easy to move is another big benefit about a putting mat as opposed to a full-size putting green.

Putting mats are much smaller so there's very little space required when you compare it to a larger, more elaborate mat or full putting set up and are fairly easy to relocate because of their significantly small size. If an indoor putting green is the choice, it's likely go into a special putting room dedicated to that purpose. Once it's custom scored and installed properly it's difficult to undo, particularly if the intent is to put it in another room for which it will certainly have to be re-scored to be properly re-installed.

An indoor putting green is usually in a designated room planned and reserved for that purpose. After it's cut to order and put in the house, it's not at all easy to get it back out and if the game plan is to re-locate it to another room in the house it will most likely have to be re-cut to install properly. Putting greens in an outside space are almost always bigger, having been designed for a bigger space, and are heavy and awkward to move. All but the most elaborate putting mats on the other hand are small enough so that a single person can handle one. This is the best overall pick for the golfers who wants to practice but can't swing the cost or who can't maintain a regular sized putting green.

If an indoor putting green is the choice, it's likely go into a special putting room dedicated to that purpose. Once it's custom scored and installed properly it's difficult to undo, particularly if the intent is to put it in another room for which it will certainly have to be re-scored to be properly re-installed. Putting greens that are outdoors are obviously bigger, being designed for more space, and are cumbersome and heavy to move about. None but the most elaborate and over sized putting mats are the size that a single person can easily move it. This makes it a trouble-free choice for the golfer who does not want the expense or maintenance of a larger putting green but wants to practice his putting regularly.

So if you or someone you live with truly loves golf, consider getting them a putting mat, particularly if personal circumstances make a larger practice green setup not feasible for them to enjoy. The cost and maintenance are minimal, there is almost no hassle involved with the installation, use, or care of putting green sized golf mats, and they will see substantial improvements to their game. They also will be able to indulge their passion on their own schedule; say goodbye to waiting for tee times and all of the travel, expense, and hassle associated with playing golf at a club or park.
