How Savage The Savageman Triathlon Is

By Leslie Ball

There are many reasons for joining a triathlon. If you are an athlete or a sports enthusiast, you are definitely qualified. Also, if you have the strength, endurance, and stamina, you will survive the steep climb, the cold swim, the challenging bike ride, and the long marathon.

More than just endurance, strength, and stamina, triathlon challenges the perseverance and determination of an athlete. The Savageman Triathlon festival is a one true paradise for triathletes who want to test their limits. Every year, a thousand participants join the event hoping to claim some bragging rights, a medal and trophy, and the title.

The Deep Creek Lake is near the rough Allegheny Mountains. In this lake, the athletes will swim towards the other side and then will continue on to the biking stage at the Garrett County. This is known bicycle course which is challenging to participants who have first tried it.

Considered as the steepest of all climbs in the history of triathlon is the Westernport Wall climb. This is perhaps the most painstaking in the whole course, yet as the athletes ascend, they are paid with the pleasure of viewing the most beautiful sceneries in the place. This is indeed pain and pleasure.

It is a brutal climb but the amazing scenery, fun local folks in costume, crazy fun signs, and hundreds of tourist spectators make every step worthwhile. The record holder for the savage climb is Phillip Grave with thirty minutes and thirty two seconds. A lot of triathletes are set to defeat that record this year.

This can be one of the most brutal events but it also has a soft spot. It was organized to support the charitable foundation of Chesapeake Bay, which objective is to protect the watershed. Part of the proceeds will go to the foundation for research and development and other needs.

The main rule is to complete the entire tracks within a nine hour limit. Failure to reach the time allocation for each category will be automatically out of the race. The swim will be worth an hour and fifteen minutes, the bike ride will be six hours, and the run will be seven point five hours. This includes the rough climb.

Some managers of the race, organizers, and medics are stationed at certain points in every course. They are there to watch over the needs of the athletes. In addition, they will decide whether or not to allow the athlete to go on with the race. So before the event, participants are expected to make intense training in order to survive the brutality of the entire course.

The schedule this year is on the twentieth of September. The registration is ongoing. The final participants will gather in the venue at nine in the morning. The swim course is at a distance of one point two miles, the biking trail is around fifty five miles, and thirteen miles for the marathon track.
