All About Fifth Wheel Trailers

By Estela Bolton

Fifth wheel trailers get their name from the method in which they hook to the vehicle pulling them. The camper is hooked to the vehicle by a fifth wheel hitch. This hitch connects to the rear of the vehicle, usually below the license plate, and connects to the camper. At first glance it appears as if the camper is actually suspended from the vehicle. A full size truck is most commonly used for towing these RV campers.

When it comes to RV's there are so many options you can choose from. Sizes can range from the very small to the very large. Some are very basic and only provide things that would be essential during a trip. Others are packed with various options like you would have if you were home. Some examples include a full size kitchen, large screen television, a full size washer and dryer set and full size beds. It's amazing what things you will find inside some models.

Some RV'a are just more basic models than others and are often constructed of cheaper building materials. There probably won't be many amenities included in these versions either. These options usually come with little more than the bare essentials, but are still much more convenient than tent camping.

Some Trailers come with many different upgrades and amenities. They are the more luxurious of options among RVs and can be reminiscent of an actual home on the inside. They are spacious, include hardwood cabinets, high end carpeting and even full size appliances. They aren't much different than living at home in essence.

The larger options can also accommodate several slide out expansions to further increase their already spacious size. With the maximum amount of slide out expansions, one of these could easily be the size of a small house, complete with all the furnishings. You essentially have a home away from home with such a large travel trailer.

Family size often dictates the size of the RV people want. Large families obviously can not travel comfortably in a small camper. Small families won't really need as much space as the large campers offer either. With an RV, you want there to be enough room for everyone to be comfortable without over doing it at the same time.

Budget will be another factor behind your decision of what to buy. With such a wide range of choices, a suitable option for anyone should be available. Aspiring RV owners usually know exactly what they are looking for. They have a good idea of how much space they want and what extras they want included.

Fifth wheel trailers are a wonderful investment for families. They open up new doors for lots of new adventures and cost less than a hotel room every night when you are away from home. Families get the convenience of feeling like they are still at home, even though they may be miles away. They are the perfect option for extended camping. They provide more sturdy shelter if you are camping during poor weather in comparison to tents. Another advantage is that you would be able to provide home cooked meals to your family every day instead limited choices from campfire cooking.
