A water plug is a device use for putting off fires. It can be found in both suburban and urban areas. The water plug is usually connected to a tap which bring in water from the source. A valve and a hose pipe are also attached. These two enable powerful water pumping so as to ensure that there is enough water for extinguishing the flame. There are various types of plugs. However, the choice of a plug depends on taste as well as its suitability. Consider enrolling in fire hydrant training courses so as to learn more.

The size of the hose, pump and the location of the plug determines the pressure of water. Users use pumps to enable increase water pressure and split water into multiple streams that is used in different points. One should be careful when connecting and disconnecting water plug because it can damage hose pipes and valuable equipment.

A hose line is fixed to the plug to ensure that it remains high and heavy. The charged hose line is usually stiff. This makes it hard for it to take turns once pressurized by that water. The hose may also be positioned well by the water pressure in case it is unobstructed. Rubber and threads are used in the connection of the hose to avoid leakage of water.

Water plugs have valves that are designed to operate full-on or full-off. They cannot allow water to throttle. They are designed to be open for full operation when need arise. Partial opening can cause water to spill on the soil around the plug which can consequently lead to scouring. If a hose is closed with a gate valve or connected to a truck, it should be attached to that plug before opening the main valve.

One is expected to wear protective clothing when putting off flames. You should wear gloves and a helmet with face shield to ensure safety. If there is high pressure aging and corroding the plug it can easily injure bystanders and the person extinguishing flames. The law prohibits parking cars few meters within the operation area.

In most cases, red and yellow paints are used to show the boundaries beyond which people must not pass. These plugs must be placed in such a way that they are easily visible. This prevents more people from getting injured. A distance of about three to five meters is recommended. This are should be marked using yellow ribbons. This ensures safety.

The water plug must be checked regularly. Proper maintenance ensures efficiency. There are certain tolls which are used for this purpose. For instance, a wrench which has a pentagon shaped socket is largely used.

Street sweepers and tank trucks use water plug for filling their tanks that are used for performing municipal services. Sewerage is also flushed out by sewer trucks that get water from the municipal water plugs. They are also important gadgets that give signal in case of water leakage. Riots control vehicle also uses plugs to enable scatter crowds when there is violence in the town.
