The European version of the wheel has 37 numbers (0-36). The American version has 38 numbers (00, 0-36) The American wheels have a house edge of 5.26 due to the increase of an extra number. The house edge is the number of chances that the casino will pay over the probability that you will win the game. It is also the built in profit for each bet.

The table contains of a table of three rows each containing twelve numbers. It has o and 00 on the top. It has three subsections each containing twelve numbers. Furthermore, it has two huge sections of eighteen numbers each. There are also colored red and black numbers. Even and odd numbers are also separated. The dealer sends an ivory ball spinning on the wheel while the players bet on the table for numbers that are most probable for the ball to land.

You place bets by anticipating the number and pocket that the ball will land on the wheel. There are two main types of bets one can make. These include inside bets and outside bets. One selects specific numbers when placing an inside bet. It has higher paying odds compared to outside bets. You can bet on a single number, called straight up betting with paying odds of 35:1

This range of bets is divided into split betting on two numbers that pays at a ratio of17 to 1, straight up betting where one bets on a single number and pays at a ratio of 35 to 1.There is also Street betting, done on three numbers and pays at 11 to 1 ratio. You can take up betting three numbers with one chip. The chip is placed at the end of the street (set of three numbers you are betting on.) on the table.

The player may also place the chip at the intersection of two streets. In American roulette, one can bet on five numbers, 3, 1, 00, 0, and 2 with a payout ratio 6:1. One may also bet on 00 row that cover 00 and 0 and gain at a ratio of 17:1

In outside bets one may bet on Odd, even, red or black numbers. These are called money bets. One may also take dozen bet which has twelve numbers in a consecutive order. They include 25-36, 12-24, and 1-12. If the ball lands on an even number or 00, one loses the game. The player may also bet on number on any of the columns (they are three in number). All bets of this nature are made at the bottom. The ratios of payout is 2:1

There is a placard to be carried that has a description of minimum and maximum bets on the table. There are also highlights on earlier landings. It is good to keep an eye as the dealer spins the ball to make better decisions. Unique chips may be bought from the dealer at a value which is cashed when you are done with the game.
