Big League Soccer and Baseball in Dallas

Led by the Dallas Cowboys, one of the state's favourite groups, Dallas sports are one of the cities greatest attractions in sports. Present day NFL Cowboys team are not as dominating as the groups of the past. Nonetheless, the city of Dallas is home to championship contenders in all the major league sports, making Dallas one of the premiere sports cities in the US and thus a great destination for sports hungry travelers.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are often called "America's Team". Having reached 8 Super Bowls and won five, the Dallas Cowboys is the most winning active franchise in the N. F. L.. The franchise has produced one or two state heroes, from Roger Staubach to Ed "Too-Tall" Jones, that are still widely admired many decades after the end of their professional soccer careers. With an approximate value of $1.5 bn., the Cowboys are outwardly the second most valuable sports franchise globally , trailing only England's Manchester United.

Texas Rangers

Top baseball in Dallas appears in the form of the Texas Rangers. Till recently, the Rangers were a standout among Texas sports teams for their perennial position at the bottom of the standings. However , in 2010 and 2011, the franchise, historically loaded in hitting and poor in pitching, assembled one of the greatest pitching staffs in baseball. Despite many years as an also-ran, the Rangers have produced or nurtured many of the MLB's top hitters, from Rafael Palmeiro to Juan Gonzalez to Michael Young. Although the team lost the World Series in both 2010 and 2011, baseball in Dallas clearly has eventually risen to championship form.

Dallas Mavericks

After years of strong teams, the "Mavs" finally brought the NBA trophy home in 2011. The victory was sweet, as they beat the Miami Heat and the famous LeBron James. The Mavericks first reached the conference championships in 1987, but were not heavy contenders again till after the beginning of the century. Since the 21st Century commenced , however , the team has won two division titles, two conference championships, and the latest league championship.

Dallas Stars

The Stars arrived in Dallas in 1993 after a number of years in Minnesota as the North Stars, and at the end of a string of losing seasons. After arriving in Dallas, the Dallas Stars worked its way into contention, eventually reaching and winning the Stanley Cup Finals in the 1998-1999 season. Although a potent team, this cup proved to be the best part for the Stars. They stayed a force in the league till 2009, when they failed to get to the playoffs for the 1st time in numerous years.

FC Dallas

Major League Soccer in Dallas commenced in 1996 with the Dallas Burn, a founding team of Top Football. The team became FC Dallas in 2005. The team has said on and off over the years but has never turned into a perennial powerhouse. However, football in Dallas is great to watch and the team draws many fans.
