Usually, catfish likes to stay in places where there is a bend that normally has an overhang because this gives them some kind of protection. Aside from that, you can also try to observe the water for some minor movements and throw your bait into that spot and check what happens. Also, it is important to keep in mind to keep your bait in place and as much as possible with little to no movements.

-It is recommended to go catfishing during early morning and evening because during these times, the sun is not up. This is because catfishes are known not to feed when the sun is up so catfishing when the sun is not up increases your chances of catching a lot of catfishes.

-Size of the hook plays an important factor in the success of your catfishing. The question is how to know what size of hook to use in catfishing? There is no specific size of hook suggested to be used when catfishing. You just have to observe the reaction of the catfish towards the hook that you are currently using. Typically, when the hook is too big for the catfish, they will not be able to swallow the hook and they just end up biting around your bait. Another option, if you don't want to do the trial and error method in finding out the appropriate size of hook to be used in catfishing, is to ask the local catfishers in the area what size of hook they typically use.

Here are some of the most commonly used catfishing baits:

-Chicken liver. Because of its meaty smell, this is one of the commonly used catfishing baits.

-Shrimp is also another popular catfishing baits because of its ability to stay on the hook despite heavy currents.

-Different types of worms are also a good option to be used as catfishing baits most especially during winter and spring time.

You can use bread dough, plastic worms, hotdog, sausages and many more. Aside from the proper catfish bait to use, it is important to remember to choose the right environment when catfishing because of the ability of the catfish to hide very well.
