What You Do Not Know About The RV Satellite TV System

By Carmella Watts

The RV satellite TV system is one which receives television signals through a set of specially made devices that detect and convert the input into an audio-visual output. The converted signals are then viewed on the television set. As the name suggests, this system relies on transmission of signals through the atmosphere and not via cable.

This system is composed of two key elements: the antenna and satellite receiver. These two serve the purpose of ultimately converting signals into an audio-visual output. There are several types of antenna one can find but the most common ones are the portable, roof mounted and broadcast types.

Portable antennas are greatly movable and can be positioned on any plane surface within a building or outside it. There are two categories that are available: one that is flat-based and one fixed on a tripod stand. The one with a flat base is usually dome-shaped and is set on the flooring, shelf or outside where it best receives TV signals. The tripod stand one does away with the need to place it on the flooring or shelf. It also enables one to place it anywhere outside where the ground is not levelled.

Roof mounted antennas are purposely made to be permanently mounted on a roof. They are hardy to endure the harsh weather changes such as excessive heat, snow and cold. Given that these are outside based antennas, they tend to be considerably bigger in dimension than the portable type. Being larger and in the open makes these antennas stronger receptors of TV signals.

Broadcast antennas are meant for use with automobiles. They transmit airwaves from an isolated site to a centralized location or they receive airwaves at a remote area. This type is highly used by media houses when covering live proceedings or by campers with a van in a faraway place.

The satellite receiver converts the TV signals into a digital state which can be viewed as an audio-visual output. There are numerous types of receivers available and they vary in the viewing options that they offer. Basic ones enable one to view and maybe set program reminders while advanced ones can forward, rewind or record programs for future viewing.

Channel providers are in business thus monetary charges are incurred for acquiring an RV system and for the channels to be viewed. Costs among the various systems greatly vary just as the channel bouquets available for subscription. The more expensive models offer stronger signal reception than the cheaper ones.

Channel charges are typically offered in two main ways: on a pay-as-you-go or subscription basis. The pay-as-you-go basis involves a single payment at the time of purchase of the system and channels and no more charges will be incurred thereafter. For the subscription mode, a customer incurs a monthly or yearly charge for the selected bouquet of channels chosen.

An RV satellite TV system is an alternative way of viewing channels at home or in the work place without the need for cable TV providers. It is an affordable way as well with a high flexibility on the choice of system components and channel bouquets. The many choices available however, may call for broader inquiries among the various providers before making a purchase.
