The Importance List Tied To Obstacle Event Races

By Rob Sutter

I'm sure that those who are looking into getting into an obstacle event are most likely going to keep certain aspects in mind. I'm sure that there will be some better than others, depending on who you talk to. However, no one is able to win a race of this caliber without keeping all of them in mind. They all have varying levels of importance but if you were to ask me which ones are the most vital, then I think it would be worth ranking how they stand as far as importance is concerned.

3. Physical prowess may be important but it's lower on the list for a couple of reasons. It's clear that individuals have to be in some kind of toned condition in order to work well in this regard but who is to say that it will be able to win a race? You have to keep in mind that the strongest person is not going to necessarily win the competition in question. They may do well in other realms but ones that require further qualities cannot work off of this feature alone.

2. A keen sense of awareness can keep you on your toes at all times. When you're operating in a race of this caliber, not only are you going to have to keep your sense of speed up but you want to make sure that you know what is ahead. This could entail just about anything, whether it's mud to trek through, walls to leap over, or what have you. These are the kinds of aspects which can stop you in your tracks if you are not careful but there's a quality more vital, in my mind.

1. More than anything else, confidence may be the game changer, whether you realize it or not. All you have to do is focus on the kinds of attitudes you'll find in competitions like Spartan Race and you will see just how much matters are changed for the better. An obstacle event may prove to be one of the best events to get into but you have to want it. You're going to have to work up the attitude needed to move forward, no matter what potential dangers may rest ahead.

I'm sure that others will have their own rankings and opinions on the matter, which is understandable. Keep in mind that one obstacle event is most likely going to be tremendously varied from another, which means that everyone is going to have a separate viewpoint on the matter. I'm sure that everyone can agree on one thing in particular, though. When it comes to showcasing what you're all about from a physical standpoint, very few events manage to pull it together in the way that this does.
