Clemeton New Jersey's Pride Of The Links - Pine Valley Golf Links

By Russell Pawley

Pine Valley is a most unique golfing creation. Pine Valley has been referred to as the Apex of a challenging golf course itself almost a Penal Course design. It yields without all that much effort and trouble to the superior golfing enthusiast not too much effort or trouble, however those in the high handicap league will find the whole course length more than a bit challenging.

A few years ago a number of elderly gentleman from golfing lore, from around the globe, gathered at Pine Valley Golf Club to compete in a tournament that had been planned to promote good relations as well as create deep friendships among golfers and golfing enthusiasts. One of the players a Canadian from Winnipeg St. James strode briskly from the clubhouse towards the first tee and turned to look down the fairway. An expression of amazement froze his face. Stretching out before him for some 170 yards was a jumble of sand and underbrush that appeared to be more like the untamed seaside of Scotland than a parcel of the garden State of the Colonies. Beyond the sandy wastes was a lush fairway, closely protected on each side by tall pines. The fairway turned right and disappeared between the trees. There was nothing else in sight. Indeed with all the years and golf swings Pine Valley still garners awards and rankings as one of the very best golf courses in the world.

Looking across the links many a beginner or even most experienced golfing enthusiast can see both challenge and torment, heaven and the devil him or herself of the golfing world.Yet few leave this golf teeing grounds and bunkers without the staunchest admiration for the place.

Tournaments are held in this place just like public and private golfing for many years. Many public faces in Hollywood and in the whole world visited the place in order to play golf and to see the relaxing ambiance of the place they called as paradise. Truly, the place was not merely designed for golfing activities but also to build friendships and good relationships to the golfers.

Lastly when it comes to variety and challenges one of the most surprising comments by many is that on completing the round is that rakes in the sand bunkers are conspicuously missing, yet the sand is as pockmarked as the moon itself. And on top of that there are other signs of golfers shame gouges where they were someone unable to pick up their golfing balls cleanly off the sand. It seems that somehow footprints and gashes seem to attract golf balls like powerful magnets themselves.
