Motorcycle Racing Equipment Musts

By Tim Brown

There is no vehicle more fun than a motorcycle. However, it can also pose danger for you. This is the reason that you need to protect your body with all the proper safety gear necessary for riding your particular bike. This is not an optional thing for numerous reasons.

You need to realize we are talking about your life. Wearing an uncomfortable or poorly made piece of clothing just to save a few dollars here is not advisable here, because you could be taking unnecessary chances. You will need all the safety gear possible. If you do not have enough of this gear, you risk leaving part of your body unprotected, which defeats the purpose for wearing safety gear to begin with, while on your motorcycle.

For example, if you have a gap in your equipment and clothing at your midsection, you could badly scrape the skin there during a fall, allowing for an access point for damage into your body, even if you have protection across every other inch of your body.

Some other equipment you should have includes a helmet, boots, chest protection, braces for your knees, a back brace, and a jacket. You should invest in Kevlar if it at all possible. The process of falling off a bike and hitting something hard at high velocity is similar in some ways to getting shot, which is the original purpose for Kevlar protection. Making absolutely sure that you won't get punctured with any objects during a potential accident is quite important.

Your joints also need protection. This is why some of the necessities you need include knee and elbow protection. Aside from a motorcycle jacket and helmet, these are among the most protective item you could have. See your joints happen to be weaker parts of the body during a fall or crash, and are at high risk of breaking. Wearing protective coverings on your joints is an important part of being safe on your bike.

It is important for you to wear a full-face helmet. This kind of helmet differs greatly from the skullcap style many states require. The full-face motorcycle helmet protects your face and entire head, and it often comes with a flip-up visor to expose your eyes when need be. It is so important to provide this type of protection to your head.

The last piece of important equipment we will talk about is a motorcycle stand. A stand will allow your bike to stand on its own at important moments or for storage. It should be sturdy enough to hold the full weight of the bike without it toppling over on you as you work on it. The bike weighs a lot, and if it fell on you, it could hurt you badly. The bike could also be damaged. This is why it is so imperative that the stand your get holds the bike securely, and is built for the weight of your particular model of motorcycle.
